INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II borrows EUR 4.9 million from Citadele

The INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II agreed with Citadele Bank on EUR 4.9 million of financing for further sustainability-based investments in farmland and forests in Central and Eastern European EU countries. The bank is providing the financing to companies indirectly owned by the fund.

“We are actively expanding in the Baltic countries and the Eastern region of the EU, where we see many attractive investment opportunities. The financing provided by the bank will allow us to speed up expansion, thus creating long-term value for the fund’s investors,” says Martynas Samulionis, the managing partner of the INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II.

“We are starting to work with one of the strongest investors in agriculture and forestry in the region. This fund is focused on the sustainable management of forest and farmland, nature conservation and social responsibility – cornerstones of the transition to a climate-neutral economy. That is why we see great value and potential for future growth in this partnership,” says Vaidas Žagūnis, a Member of the Management Board and Head of Corporate Banking for the Baltics at Citadele Bank.

INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II, launched in 2020, is administered by the Apex Group, one of Europe’s largest providers of fund service. The fund was established and operates under the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and invests in individual countries in keeping with the regulatory restrictions set by those countries. Currently the INVL Sustainable Timberland and Farmland Fund II manages more than 21,600 ha of forest and land.
